Triads
In our fourth theory preview, we talked about triads.... triads are the basis for ALL of the harmony that we will be studying in the in AP course. Simply stated, triads are simply groups of notes that are each a third a part from each other. They are always grouped every other letter of the musical alphabet.
In other words, ACE; or CEG; or BDF; etc....
There are four types of triad:
Major - Major 3rd on the bottom, minor 3rd on top
minor - minor 3rd on bottom, Major 3rd on top
Augmented - Major, Major
diminished - minor, minor
